Masjid Istiqal - Click to View Hi-Res Image

Masjid Istiqal (also known as Istiqal Mosque) is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia. Located in Jakarta, Indonesia, it was built to commemorate Indonesia’s independence from the Netherlands; “Istiqal” is an Arabic word that means “Independence.” When my friend and I took a tour inside, our guide pointed out the many symbolisms present in the mosque, all of which pointed towards Indonesia’s Independence Day. The photo only shows the small dome of the mosque.

(Apologies for the quality of the photo, as my actual camera was under repair during my short trip to Jakarta. You have to admit, though, the HTC Desire’s camera isn’t too bad.)
