Cambodian Kid Climbing Phimeanakas - Click to View Hi-Res Image

This week’s TravelTuesday Picture of the Week is taken at one of the many structures in Angkor Thom (which I recently wrote about here). Phimeanakas is a tall temple within Angkor Thom, with steep, crumbling steps leading to the top. I hesitated and wondered if it was safe, and if I could handle the tricky climb. After staring at and studying the steps (not to mention seeing other tourists successfully climbing it), I eventually – and slowly – climbed to the top of Phimeanakas. On the way down, I saw a local Cambodian kid climb up the steps of Phimeanakas with ease. It was quite a sight to see; the kid climbed up quickly, seemingly ignoring the steepness and dangers of the steps. I just had to snap a picture… and I did.

I hope you enjoyed this TravelTuesday Picture of the Week. Enjoy the rest of TravelTuesday on Twitter and follow me @hyperren. Come back next week for another PotW!
