Amsterdam Centraal Railway Station - Click to View Hi-Res Image

My trip to Europe made me fascinated with train travel, as well as train stations. I’d always been a fan of architecture, particularly anything old and grand, and because Europe has a long tradition of railway travel, its old railway stations captivated and amazed me.

Amsterdam Centraal is Amsterdam’s central railway station. It was opened in 1889 and designed by Pierre Cuypers and A. L. van Gendt. It was the first thing I encountered in Amsterdam (yes, I traveled by train) and it was quite the sight to behold. Alas, due to construction works being done (a Dutch friend told me they’ve been doing construction for almost forever), a view of the full building was difficult. Still, you can see the grandness of the structure. To me, it evokes feelings of great adventure ahead.
