In July 2009, I declared my plans to travel to Europe in May 2010. I renewed my commitment to this plan on my 27th birthday. Four days later, I got the call to work in Singapore, and my plans had to be put on hold.
When my working contract in Singapore was renewed for one more year last November, I was determined to finally make my way to Europe. I set May 2011 as my initial target date, and began working on my visa requirements and savings.
As of today, I am the proud holder of a Schengen visa, and exactly six weeks from today, I will be boarding a Lufthansa flight that will take me to Munich, Germany.

me and my Schengen visa
My plan is to visit Munich, Hamburg, and Berlin in Germany, as well as Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I only have two weeks (as I only get ten days of vacation leave from work) but I’ll make the most out of it without treating it like The Amazing Race. (Got any tips? Please feel free to let me know in the comments section!)
I’ll post a few more entries detailing my preparations for this trip, including my experiences with applying for a visa. Hopefully, I will also be able to post a few updates here and there when I finally get to Europe.
The next six weeks are gonna fly past quickly! Can’t wait!

Awesome dude!!!
I do have a some questions. You see, I got a working visa in China (I’m still here sa pnas ok?) and I was thinking I would try to get my Schengen Visa from there, in your case, in Singapore. You think getting it from China would be easy?? Tips perhaps? Amsterdam!!! yeah, my girlfriend lives there!

@Marc – I think it should be easier. Try checking the website of the German (or Dutch, if you’re going to Amsterdam) embassy in China. You should be able to compare the requirements listed there with the requirements listed on the equivalent embassy in the Philippines… that’s what I did, and yeah, easier if applying from Singapore.
